Making Curried Chicken with my kids with plenty of hugs and spices!
Curry powder is a spice blend made mainly from turmeric, chili peppers, cumin, coriander, and fenugreek. Other spices such as ginger, garlic, fennel seed, caraway, cinnamon, cloves, mustard seed, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper are mixed in to give each curry powder its unique flavor. This magical mixture is thought to prevent everything from Alzheimer’s to cancer to heart disease. Its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, pain-reducing, immune-boosting properties are so healing.
A hug is the perfect gift. It’s something that never gets old and everyone needs. It doesn’t cost anything except a little time, and the warmth and message are lasting.
Hugs are perfect for building stronger relationships because a hug goes both ways. When you hug someone you are both giving and receiving. You are paving the two-way street that your relationship is all about.
Did you know that hugs are healing and calming? Hugs help reduce stress and anxiety. Sink into a hug and feel your body relax. It’s as if the other person is squeezing the stress right out of you.
It’s a small gesture, but it is so powerful.
If you find you are not in sync with your kids, maybe arguing a lot or not communicating, try a hug. A hug can be an unspoken request for love and forgiveness. It’s an immediate positive form of communication. Hugs say I love you, I care about you, and they feel so good. They build self-esteem, and let the other person know you are there for them. A hug says, let’s forget what we were upset about and remember what’s important.
The best thing about a hug…there is no limit to the number of hugs you can give or receive in a day.
We are not just cooking together. We are building happier and healthier relationships, one recipe at a time.
